Advertisers Warn Hill On FCC Broadband CPNI Item

In advance of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday (May 11) on the FCC’s proposed broadband privacy framework, advertising trade groups are telling them that the FCC has overstepped its authority to the potential detriment of the economy and consumers The FCC has proposed new rules requiring consumers to opt in to allowing their customer proprietary network information (CPNI) to be shared with third parties for marketing purposes, while no such requirement applies to edge providers like Google.
