The NAI Welcomes Megan Cox as Director, Privacy Review Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 19, 2025) – The Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) is pleased to announce Megan Cox as the new Director of its Privacy Review Program. Megan joins the NAI with a distinguished legal career focused on privacy and data protection, bringing extensive experience from her prior work as an attorney in the Federal Trade Commission’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection.

At the FTC, Megan led investigations into privacy and data security practices across a range of innovative digital platforms, including those in the advertising ecosystem. Her work included assessing whether privacy programs and data practices were fair and transparent for consumers, evaluating corporate compliance with privacy laws and industry standards, and collaborating with technologists to identify and address risks in data-driven services.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Megan to the NAI team,” said Leigh Freund, President and CEO of the NAI. “Her deep expertise in privacy law, combined with her regulatory experience, will bring a unique perspective to our self-regulatory program, and her thoughtful and collaborative approach will be immensely valuable to our members. As we continue to develop and evolve what self-regulation means in a rapidly shifting regulatory landscape, Megan’s leadership will bring credibility and accountability to our new Self-Regulatory Framework, which aims to help member companies understand and comply with their privacy obligations under U.S. law.”

In her new role, Megan will lead the Privacy Review Program, working closely with NAI members to evaluate privacy practices, identify priority areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with the NAI Self-Regulatory Framework.

“I’m excited to join the NAI at such a pivotal moment for digital privacy,” said Cox. “The opportunity to help companies uphold strong privacy standards while fostering innovation in advertising is one I’m passionate about. I look forward to supporting the NAI’s work and its members in this dynamic space.”

Megan holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School, and has built a career at the intersection of law, policy, and technology, making her uniquely equipped to lead the NAI’s efforts to promote responsible data practices in digital advertising.
